Volodymyr Lytvyn: Today, the International Community is paying Greater Attention to Ukraine
Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made this statement in the interview to "Kyivskyi Telehraf" periodical.
He expects that "the struggle for the change of authority and public mood" will take place in Ukraine till October; there will be a competition "whether the opposition will put the authorities into their proper place, or vice versa." V.Lytvyn stressed that "Ukraine will have to pass another test in observance of democratic standards of life."
Asked who should grade this exam, the Head of the Ukrainian Parliament answered: "It is the Ukrainian people and the surrounding." "Please take note of the fact that as soon as the authorities change, they have to pass a second, informal, test to the international community," V.Lytvyn stated.
Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stated that Ukraine would chair the Council of Europe in the nearest time, while remaining under its monitoring.
